THE FIGHTING 482ND

As operations of the TASK FORCE RECON initiative ceased the operations of the unit we transferred to the 48ND AIRSOFT INFANTRY BATTALION which currently consists of two units: the 1st Infantry Unit (Able Company) and the 2nd Infantry Unit (Baker company).
The units are currently recruiting (see the 482AIB-2IU page link under units to join, a list of requirements is under the recruiting page on that site)
Our mission is forward assault with search and destroy intent. This is an AIRSOFT team not a real military unit.

The team is based out of South Carolina and the units are recognized as separate teams by the Airsoft Organization Of South Carolina.

Airsoft: what is it and what to know?

Airsoft is a sootry that highly resembles paintball, but is much more technical. The guns resemble real guns and they shoot 6 or 8 mm plastic bbs. The game is more technical because it here early lasts longe, contains objectives and missions, and there is often a command structure. The weapons look and feel real so it is more of a combat simulation than paint ball is. It is also key to remember to follow the rules and call your hits because airsoft does not leave an obvious mark on the clothes or gear it is an honor sport. A lot of times not following the honor system makes your team mates look bad and so it is frowned upon to break the rules such as not calling your hits. The game is ment to be fun although there is a serious aspect to it. If played right the sport is fun for everyone but if you are dis honorable people get mad. Also because the guns can look very real it is a bad idea to have them out in public and a bad idea to play out in the open in front of other people. It is better to play on a sanctioned field, although it costs money this is better for everyone in te long run. Safety is a major concern of the airsoft community. Always wear eye protection when playing airsoft. Don't carry airsoft guns in public. When teams porting a gun make sure it is in a gun case or bag or that it is out of sight, observe your MED (minimum engagement distance) so that no one gets hurt, the rules are there for your safety and the safety of others, if they are broken people can be hurt so it is always a good idea to follow them. Rules are listed on the AOSC site. Please remember to play safe and have fun when playing airsoft.
